John Wayne Airport Food: Quick Bites, Coffee & Full Meals

Hungry at SNA? The terminal has more choices than many passengers expect.

The John Wayne Airport food lineup runs from Vietnamese specialties and açaí bowls to diner breakfasts, pizza, and a full seafood menu. Several choices also have Southern California connections, which gives the terminal more local character.

Start With Your Gate Number, Then Your Appetite

SNA’s dining directory lists restaurants by gate number, so you can narrow your choices quickly.

Once you’re through security, don’t assume your gate limits you to the restaurant immediately beside it. Terminals A, B, and C connect inside the secure area, and the airport says a passenger can walk all three in less than eight minutes. Still, factor in the walk back and your boarding time before heading farther away.

Now the useful part: what suits your kind of stop?

Early Flight? SNA Has Food From 5 A.M.

A dawn departure does not leave you entirely dependent on packaged snacks.

Greenleaf Kitchen & Cocktails, a Southern California concept between Gates 6 and 7, opens at 5 a.m. Its all-day breakfast sits alongside bowls, salads, sandwiches, and burgers.

Near the same end of the terminal, you can also find:

  • Starbucks near Gate 6 for coffee
  • Ruby’s Diner near Gates 8/9 for diner-style food to go
  • Sambazon near Gate 10 for açaí, smoothies, and oatmeal bowls

Another early option is available after you reach the higher-numbered gates. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf near Gate 16 opens at 5 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and offers pastries and grab-and-go food alongside coffee and tea.

For Something That Feels More Orange County, Look Near Gates 13 and 15

Two names stand apart from the standard airport lineup for a different reason.

Brodard Express

Near Gate 13, Brodard Express brings Little Saigon-inspired food to SNA. The airport lists Vietnamese baguette sandwiches, spring rolls, macarons, and pastries, with regular hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Consider Brodard when:

  • you want lunch rather than breakfast
  • you want something tied more closely to Orange County’s food culture than the national chains elsewhere in the terminal

Taps Fish House & Brewery

Near Gate 15, Taps Fish House & Brewery provides another local connection. SNA describes it as the return of a brand with more than 20 years of Orange County history. Its menu includes seafood, sushi, burgers, and steaks, served from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Taps also partners with Anaheim-based Brewheim for nearby craft beer.

Short on Time? Gates 12 to 14 Give You Several Choices

This part of SNA helps when departure is getting closer because several distinct food options sit within a relatively small gate range. Alongside Brodard Express, the SNA directory shows:

  • McDonald’s McCafé, Gate 12: breakfast and fast-food choices
  • Qdoba, Gate 13: burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas and nachos
  • Jamba, Gates 13/14: smoothies, bowls and juices
  • OC Pizza, Gates 13/14: thin-crust pizza, pasta and salads
  • Starbucks, Gates 13/14: coffee and beverages

Match the food to what you need:

  • Something light: Jamba
  • A fuller handheld meal: Brodard
  • A bowl or burrito: Qdoba
  • Pizza or pasta: OC Pizza
  • Coffee: Starbucks

Look at the line first, though: a nearby counter with a long queue may take longer than one a short stroll away.

Have Time to Sit Down? Look at the Meal, Not Just the Restaurant Name

A longer wait at the gate changes the shortlist.

  • Five Vines Wine Bar, Gate 10: the natural pick when wine or cocktails are part of the stop rather than an afterthought; it serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner too.
  • Taps, Gate 15: a stronger fit for a substantial meal rather than a snack.

If you are getting to SNA Airport and already know you want breakfast or dinner before boarding, work the meal into the time you have at the airport.

Landing at SNA? One Coffee Stop Works Differently

Dunkin’ deserves separate treatment because it works nothing like a departure-gate coffee counter.

The airport opened the location in February 2026 on the arrivals level of Terminal B near baggage carousel 3. It sits pre-security, so you do not need a boarding pass to reach it. Regular hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

That makes it handy for a completely different set of situations:

  • you have just landed and want coffee or breakfast
  • you are waiting at baggage claim
  • you are meeting an incoming passenger

One 2026 Detail Worth Checking Ahead of Your Trip

A screenshot of an older SNA dining guide can age badly right now.

John Wayne Airport reported on September 11, 2026, that five new concessions had opened during the previous six months, following three openings in 2025. Four more were expected during the quarter, with additional locations slated for the first and second quarters of 2027.

So, ahead of counting on breakfast at a particular restaurant:

  1. Open the latest SNA dining directory.
  2. Confirm the gate listed for the restaurant.
  3. Look at its hours for the day you fly.

Taking Food to the Gate or Onto Your Flight

Buying food does not have to mean eating it at the terminal. TSA rules generally allow solid food in carry-on baggage. You can also take food purchased after security to the gate, although airline policies may affect what you can eat on board. Alcohol is different: FAA regulations prohibit passengers from consuming alcohol aboard the aircraft unless it is served by the air carrier. Being able to carry food to the gate makes the choice less of a race against the boarding call.

At SNA, the useful question is less “What’s the best restaurant?” than “What fits my gate, appetite, and time until boarding?”
